Latest iOS 17.2 update out now – new features include Journal app, Spatial video

Apple has recently launched the iOS 17.3 beta for testers, following the release of the stable iOS 17.2 for eligible iPhone models. This beta is expected to be the final one before the holiday season and reintroduces support for an Apple Music feature absent in iOS 17.2.

The iOS update is available for download in the system updates, includes the long-awaited Journal app, Contact Key Verification, spatial video capture for iPhone 15 Pro users, and improvements to the Weather and Messages apps. It also addresses security issues, fixing bugs and glitches.

For those upgrading from iOS 17.1.2, the update is around 1.5GB. Users can easily install it by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update and following the onscreen instructions. Compatibility spans various iPhone models, from the iPhone XS series to the latest iPhone 15 series, although some features are exclusive to newer models due to hardware requirements.

The iOS 17.2 features a new Journal app for personal note-taking, Contact Key Verification for enhanced security, spatial video recording for iPhone 15 Pro users, and improvements to the telephoto lens. Additionally, the update enhances the action button, extends wireless charging compatibility, and introduces significant upgrades to the Messages, Weather, and News apps.

Beyond these, there are also improvements to AirDrop, Siri Support, Apple Music, and more. The release coincides with watchOS 10.2 and tvOS 17.2 updates, offering enhanced health data logging and new features for Apple Watch and Apple TV users.
